Some might ask, why have you done this for so long? And at the core is the unique opportunity in validation to be exposed to the complete picture--how everything works and fits together. And using that knowledge to solve the complex challenges with (hopefully) elegant solutions. Because, ultimately, even though my mind has been on management responsibilities in recent years, my heart will always lie with engineering (and problem solving). As for management, I'm a big proponent of agile methodologies. This is not only because they are more resilient to change and focus on delivering what the customer truly wants (when they want it...or at least closer than other top-down methods) but because they treat a company's most valuable asset (their people) better. Namely, it encourages a growth mindset, empowerment, transparency, and sustainability. Lastly, a key part of this working is servant leadership, and this fits with my personality naturally.
